A Sacred Space: Honoring the Bond in Our Most Difficult Moments
There is no decision more heavy, and no moment more profound, than the one where we say goodbye to a beloved pet. For me, and for the entire team at Sajack Animal Hospital, this part of our work is deeply personal. We don’t view this as just another service—we view it as a sacred responsibility to honor the life of your best friend and the bond you shared.
We know that in this moment, you aren't just a client; you are a family in mourning. That is why we have designed our approach to Compassionate End-of-Life Care with the utmost dignity, privacy, and patience.
A Room Built for the Whole Family
Grief doesn't happen in a vacuum, and it shouldn't have to happen in a small, clinical exam room. At our Berthoud facility, we have created an extra-large, private comfort suite.
This space was designed specifically to accommodate the entire family. Whether you have children who need to say their first big goodbye, or several family members who want to be present, there is plenty of room for everyone to be together. It is a quiet, soft, and private setting that feels more like a living room than a hospital, allowing you to focus entirely on your pet.
Your Time is the Priority
One of the most difficult parts of this journey is feeling rushed. At Sajack, we want you to know: you can take as long as you need. We schedule these appointments with a significant buffer because we understand that saying goodbye doesn't happen on a stopwatch. Whether you need thirty minutes or two hours to sit quietly, share stories, or simply hold a paw, this room is yours for as long as you need it.
Dignity through Autonomy: The Call Remote
We want to give you as much "uninterrupted" time as possible. To ensure you aren't constantly being checked on or feeling like the door might open at any moment, we provide a specialized remote.
When you have said your final "I love yous" and your family feels ready to proceed, you simply press the button. This discreetly notifies our staff that you are ready for us to enter. This puts the pace of the visit entirely in your hands, allowing you to maintain the privacy and sanctity of your family's final moments together.
Our Promise to You
To our neighbors in Berthoud and across Northern Colorado: when the time comes to make this choice, we promise to walk beside you with empathy and grace. We will treat your pet with the same tenderness and respect that we would our own, and we will ensure their final moments are filled with peace and dignity.
You’ve given them a lifetime of love; we are here to help you give them a peaceful goodbye.
With deepest sympathy and support,
Dr. Peterson
